University Medical Center opened in 1978 and has been in the forefront of medical care delivery for Lubbock and the region. Through their partnership with Texas Tech, UMC offers leading edge research and technology, including a number of nationally recognized clinical trials in breast and prostate cancer. UMC has the only Level I Trauma Center and the only burn center in the region.
