Scales, Tails, And Trails- Family Fun At Lubbock Lake Landmark On 04/20/19

More than 30 Texas Tech students will be operating in this year’s free outdoor education event Scales, Tails, & Trails, taking place on April 20st, 2019 from 10am to 2pm. The event is a hands-on, fun way for children and families to learn about wildlife, science, nature, & nutrition. During the half day long event, attendees will be walking through the boardwalk at the Lubbock Lake Landmark visiting fun, informational, and interactive booths with things such as gardening, fish prints, face painting, and more! People will learn about bats, fish, insects, seeds, birds, etc., with some live animals for them to interact with. The goal for Scales, Tails, and Trails is to host an outreach and education event that will encourage a curiosity for nature among the members of our community, particularly youth. We will be collaborating with the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden, Texas Master Naturalists, Ogallala Commons, and various TTU departments. Well-qualified graduate students will operate the activities with the children and families, working both indoors and outdoors around the Landmark. Using an indoor/outdoor format, attendees will spend the day in interactive activities surrounding a natural history preserve right in their backyard! Scales, Tails, & Trails is presented by the Texas Tech graduate student organization, Association of Natural Resource Scientists, with help from The Lubbock Lake Landmark.
