Description
The Texas Tech Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will host the annual El Grito Celebration, Sunday, September 15th from 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the Urbanovsky Park Amphitheatre (located 18th and Flint Ave.), adjacent to the Student Recreation Center on the TTU campus. The event will include free food, live music, dance, and a ceremony of flags facilitated by the Most Reverend, Bishop Emeritus of Lubbock. The event will mark the start of Texas Tech’s Latin X Heritage Month Celebration.
El Grito is the celebration of the day Mexico declared its independence from Spain on September 16, 1810. The event also honors the traditions and culture of Mexican Americans and various other Hispanic and Latin populations.
