With just over 1,000 patients documented in medical history, #AlströmSyndrome is one of the rarest diseases in the world. A major obstacle due to the rarity of Alström Syndrome is funding.
When Alström Angels was formed in 2012, there was less than $100,000 to research treatments and a cure for children battling the rare disease. A fitting choice, Alström families adopted the motto: drop by drop we make a lake. Every penny is a drop. Eventually, we will be able to make a lake ??
With the help of #WestTexas communities and event supporters, #Alström Angels has raised more than $300,000 to fund new research studies and help the families and children diagnosed with Alström Syndrome.
